Simon Fitton

3rd Trombone

Simon began started to play the trombone at the age of ten and soon joined the Rochdale Metropolitan Youth Band. He then started extra brass lessons with the former principle cornet player of Besses of the Barn Band, Mr Kenneth Sanderson. At the age of 13 Simon Joined the Phoenix brass 10 piece based in Littleborough, Lancashire to which he presently plays in.

At the age of 14, Simon gained a place at Chethams School of Music and studied trombone with Peter Leary and trombone ensemble training with Chris Houlding. Simon went on to gain a scholarship at the Birmingham Conservatoire where he studied trombone with Reg Reid and Danny Longstaff and gained a graduate diploma in brass performance and teaching. After gaining a post graduate certificate of education at the University of Birmingham, Simon has held 2 secondary Music posts in Rochdale and Rossendale and from 2005 to 2013 was head of music at Saddleworth School. In 2013, Simon taught brass and curriculum for Bradford Music Service and in 2014 to present day, gained a brass teaching position with Trafford Music Service. 

In his spare time, Simon enjoys playing in local bands and freelancing in shows, orchestras and function bands around the North West. 

Simon Joined Corus brass in 2016, enjoying playing on a recent 30 year celebration CD and several high profile concerts including the Bridgewater Hall in December 2016.
