Lois Talbot

Trumpet / Flugel Horn

Lois learned to play the cornet at an early age and started to study the trumpet soon after. She played in local youth and senior ensembles prior to her undergraduate studies. At University, Lois studied trumpet with Colin Casson, composition and voice. She gained a BMus(Hons) from Huddersfield University and went on to complete her Post Graduate Certificate in Education at Bretton Hall. A former secondary Head of Music, Lois now teaches children with generic learning difficulties at Newfield Special School in Blackburn where she also has curriculum responsibility for music throughout the school. Lois has an advanced qualification in school leadership endorsed by the National College for Teaching and School Leadership.

Following many years deputising for Corus, Lois became a full-time member in December 1999, playing Flugel Horn and Trumpet 4 with the ensemble. Lois was also second trumpet in Bolton Symphony Orchestra for many years, leaving in 2013. 

Away from music making and teaching, Lois enjoys the finer things in life and is married to Corus trombonist Simon. They have 3 children Joseph, Namoi and Leo.
