25th Anniversary Year

1985 - 2010

Welcome to the Corus Website

Corus Brass Ensemble was formed twenty five years ago and since then has gained an enviable reputation as one of the finest brass ensembles of its kind in the country. The Ensemble perform throughout the country and beyond and have played at numerous prestigious events. These include two engagements during the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester, television appearances, recordings and concerts in some of finest venues in the United Kingdom. Corus regularly performs in the wonderful setting of the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester, a venue at which the individual and collective talents of the Ensemble have been heard on numerous occasions. Their last trip overseas in October 2006 was at the invitation of the Bundes-Schutzen Musikkorps, Paderborn, Germany, to take part in their 100th anniversary celebrations.

Now in its 25th season, the Ensemble continues to promote high quality brass instrumental music of all styles to as wide an audience as possible.

Over the years Corus Brass Ensemble has attracted several professional conductors and having worked with the group on an occasional basis in recent seasons, the Ensemble is delighted and extremely excited that Nigel M Taylor has accepted the position as Artistic Director from September 2008, a position he last held from the group’s formation in 1985 until 1991.
